TYVEK® is a series of non-woven fiber products registered and manufactured by DuPont.
This material is strong and durable. Its strength stronger than that of paper, and more versatile than woven materials.
TYVEK® is made from high-density polyethylene fibers (one tenth the width of a human hair), formed by a continuous process of very fine 0.5-10 micrometer fibers. These nondirectional fibers (plexifilaments) are first spun and then bonded together by heat and pressure, without the use of binders and fillers.
Tyvek has a wide variety of application by having a balanced physical property that combines the advantages of paper, film and fiber.
Tyvek® is strong, lightweight, soft and smooth, does not fray fibers and particles, antistatic, opaque, water resistant, chemical resistant, scratch resistant and chemically stable. The unique combination of these properties makes Tyvek® ideal for a broad range of applications in the electronics industry including semiconductor wafer separator, LCD, LED, and hi-tech dust-free product packaging.

Superior durability Tyvek® is made of a high quality matter that is tough yet extremely light. Its unique material structure allows Tyvek® to be water and tear resistance. Even under extreme circumstances, Tyvek will always make sure your information is safe.
Wide variety of application Tyvek® has a smooth, soft texture, allowing easy machine processing. Remarkable flexibility, foldability and the ability to be woven provides infinite possibility for Tyvek®. It can be used in silicon wafer, pharmaceutical cleanroom packaging, building protection, banner, wristband, flags etc. Tyvek® can satisfy the varied requirements of craftsmanship.
Printable Tyvek® has a smooth, white surface, and can be printed with any color. That is the reason why when the printed media requires a vibrant white surface, Tyvek® can manifest its refined texture. The ability to easily tailor, woven, glued and buttoned allows Tyvek® to be used for shopping bag, admission tickets, books, cards, calendars, certificates, posters, kites etc., allowing the printed media to be displayed in divergent places.
Reusable Tyvek® is a reusable material, effectively reduces waste.
High opacity Tyvek® has one of the highest opacity ratings in the printing industry. Its opaqueness range is around 90-99%.
Low-linting Tyvek® is composed of continuous fibers, hence it does not generate a significant amount of lint particles.
Outstanding chemical resistance Tyvek® products are inert to most acides, bases and salt. Porlonged exposure to oxidizing substances, such as concentrated nitric acid or sodium persulfate, will cause some loss of strength.
Whiteness Tyvek® is among the whitest materials available for printing with a TAPPI Standard Test Method rating of 94.1. The following values are typical for hard structure: L=97.8 Brightness (100 for perfect white) a=0.3 green component b=0.1 yellow component w=96.5 Overall color acceptance
Solvent resistance Tyvek® is highly resistant to most solvents. Certain solvents used in some inks, paints, adhesives and coatings can cause swelling. Under certain circumstances, solvent distortion can be minimized by rapid evaporation or drying in an oven.
Rot and mildew resistance Tyvek® is mold and mildew resistant. It shows no degradation after being buried in soil for an extended period like paper products or coated synthetics.
Remarkable Flexibility Tyvek® brand of protective materials has outstanding flexibility and does exceed 20,000 folding cycles when tested on an MIT flex tester (TAPPI method T-423) without pre-scoring.
Porosity Compared with most textile fabrics, the air permeability of Types 10 and 14 is low. Moisture- vapor transmission is much higher than that of plastic films and similar to that of coated papers.
Superior moisture resistance The physical properties of Tyvek® withstand the effects of water. It is equally strong wet or dry. Tyvek® meets the saltwater immersion test for British Standard 5609.
Withstands deformation Under normal conditions, Tyvek® remains neutral. Elevated temperatures in excess of 104°C will cause width loss and deformation.
UV resistance Tyvek® is UV resistant, depending on style, from six months to over one year. Some physical properties will be reduced if exposed to UV for over one year. UV resistance can be improved with opaque coatings or with UV inhibitors.
Soiling resistance Tyvek® resists soiling. Tyvek® can be washed with a mild detergent. Heated drying is not recommended.
Static consideration In some processing steps, Tyvek® may generate static electricity unless treated with antistatic agents. Most antistatic agents do not affect sheet strength.
Good dimensional stability Sheet dimensions change less than 0.01% between 0 and 100% relative humidity at constant temperature.
Temperature impact Toughness and flexibility of Tyvek® are retained down to -73°C. Tyvek® begins to shrink at approximately 104°C, and melts at 135°C. Under web offset processing conditions the web temperature should not exceed 79°C.
Unique Flammability The flammability characteristics of Tyvek® are similar to those of most synthetic fibers. Hard structure products are rated class "A" when tested in accordance with ASTM E-84-89-a, a test for flame and smoke development. Soft structure products are rated “Class 1—Normal Flammability” by the Federal Flammable Fabrics Act for Clothing Textiles (16 CFR-1610).
Solvent and adhesive compatibility testing The compatibility of solvents in inks, coatings and adhesives can be determined by placing two to three drops on a sheet of the style being used. For more information about the compatibility of solvent and adhesive with the material, please contact sales
